Busy restaurants aren’t always a sign of good food, but this Greenville Avenue taco joint is bustling for the right reasons.

State of patio: Despite Eddie’s usually packed patio, we walked by probably hundreds of times before finally trying it.

  • The menu is filled with typical Tex-Mex options, like fajitas and enchiladas, but the plates managed to surprise. The salsas were tangy and spicy, and the ingredients tasted fresh.

Vibe check: There is ample room inside for seating, but the covered patio gives diners a chance to enjoy the bustle of Greenville.

Pro tip: The margaritas and drinks — most just $12 — are worth trying. We enjoyed the Strawberry Smokeshow made with mezcal, lime, orange liqueur and strawberry puree.

What to order: Trompo tacos — five street tacos with pork, pineapple relish and queso fresco.

  • We also tried the deep-fried beef tacos, which would be perfect for the State Fair.

Where: Eddie’s Tex-Mex Cocina, 2018 Greenville Ave.

Cost: $15.99 for the trompo, $13.99 for fried tacos.

Six-word review: Salty, sweet toppings amplify tender meat.
