Over the past few years, few Dallas neighborhoods have seen as much change as Lower Greenville. The area, which spans approximately one and a half miles down Greenville Avenue, has always been a hotspot for nightlife. Now, though, it’s one of the city’s best dining destinations.
Greenville Avenue’s explosive growth in recent years has brought some challenges for the neighborhood, but now it’s in better shape than ever. Head to this bustling dining district for some of the city’s finest fare, ranging from French cuisine to a killer bowl of ramen.Note: Restaurants on this map are listed geographically.
1. Desperados Mexican Restaurant

A family favorite for 45 years and counting, Desperados on Greenville Avenue offers up plenty of puffy Desperados Tacos and a totally festive, classic Tex-Mex atmosphere. That award-winning La Margarita probably helps a bit on the latter.

Family-owned Bangkok on Greenville Avenue is a mainstay in the SMU area and beyond for their delicious Thai cuisine and quick service, whether dining in or taking out. The tom kha gai soup, served bubbling hot in a big steel pot, is a favorite for sharing (or not).
3. St. Martin’s Wine Bistro

This slightly dusty, totally intimate date night spot serves up traditional French fare, including timeless classics like champagne-brie soup and escargot. Snag a table near the back for a cozy place to canoodle, or sit at the bar and sip on actually-French champagne.
4. Terilli’s

This long-standing Greenville Italian destination opened in 1985. When it was nearly claimed by a fire in 2010, Terilli’s rose from the ashes with an upgraded dining room with three levels of seating. Come by for some of their famous “Italchos” or Italian nachos, and note that happy hour is from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday featuring $7 select wines, martinis, and mules.

For date night, girls’ night or to pick up dinner for your family, Sevan G&G is a Greenville Avenue classic. The BYOB spot serves up authentic Mediterranean cuisine like thyme pie, falafel and gyros with homemade baklava for dessert.
6. Libertine Bar

The Libertine is best on a Wednesday — this watering hole offers $5 drafts and frozen drinks plus half-price bar snacks and bottles of wine. Should you find yourself there on any other day of the week, the classic bar fare (hog wings, biscuits & gravy, and grilled cheese) is always on point. And check the chalkboard, because classic cocktails of the week are just $10.

Arguably Lower Greenville’s most refined restaurant, Chef Nathan Tate serves up some of the best Southern fare in the city. The “Long Walk to Nashville,” a riff on Music City’s famous hot fried chicken doused in Sichuan mala sauce, is a must. Belly up to the cocktail bar for a proper daiquiri or Old Fashioned.
8. Teppo Yakitori & Sushi Bar

Teppo rides the line between fine food and casual dining beautifully. Though they’re currently working on a reservations-only basis since opening back up, they’re definitely more laid back than some of Dallas’ other sushi spots, and the menu won’t break your budget. Regulars rave about Teppo’s nigiri, but don’t sleep on the grilled yakitori options.

Notched just west of the actual avenue, but not to be forgotten, is Standard Service, the second location to the ever-popular spot in Heath serving modern American food. Stop in for dinner, lunch or brunch, where a Hangover Special offers up a cure, in whatever form the chef wants to serve that day.

Wabi House is the go-to spot on Lower Greenville for ramen. They’ve got five styles of the soup on the menu, including a delicious veggie ramen, and an extensive toppings list to perfect your bowl. Take one of their cocktails out to the huge outdoor/indoor bar — if you’re feeling extra adventurous, try the Tokyo Sour.

If you’re looking for late-night seafood bites, Palapas is the spot. This restaurant’s killer patio, complete with thatched roof, serves up great people-watching and a cozy spot on which to drink plenty of margaritas. Finish your meal off with a freshly made churro for only $4.
