Columbus, Ohio-based Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream is looking to open its third North Texas shop in Lower Greenville after it entered the market last year.
The new “scoop shop” will be located at 2012 Greenville Ave., according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The company is building out 2,121 square feet of space of the shopping center in the former Steel City Pops space.
This will be the third local location of the ice cream maker that is famous for flavors like Brown Butter Almond Brittle and Brambleberry Crisp. The first North Texas location in Deep Ellum opened just before the 2021 winter freeze, according to the Dallas Morning News, and had to temporarily close just days after. It successfully reopened to much fan-fare and a second location in Addison followed about eight months later.
In 2021, the company told sister publication Columbus Business First that 70% of its sales came from its storefronts. Pints of the company’s ice cream can also be found in North Texas retailers such as Whole Foods, Central Market and Foxtrot market.
According to Business Journal research, the company had about $65.6 million in revenue and employed 1,198 people at last count. The company said it has more than 60 shops across the country was founded in 2002 by Jeni Britton.
