Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams is opening its second Dallas store in Lowest Greenville.
News on the store’s arrival came earlier this year, but no opening date had been announced.
We saw the sign installed on the front of the building, the space formerly occupied by Steel City Pops, and we reached out to the company to ask for an update.
“Unfortunately, not all of the logistics and finer details have been fully worked out yet, and we’re hesitant to share a projected opening date without all of these details squared away,” the spokesperson said.
So we’ll continue to monitor the situation and update neighbors when we can.
In the meantime, here’s some background on the company.
Jeni’s Ice Creams was founded by James Beard Award winner Jeni Britton in Columbus, Ohio, in 2002. Its first location was at the North Market public market, and the first shop outside the market opened in 2005.
The company expanded to Deep Ellum in 2021. And its products are available at many grocery stores in our neighborhood.
A few best-selling flavors include brambleberry crisp, brown butter almond brittle, darkest chocolate, salted peanut butter with chocolate flecks, and salty caramel.
